Hurray for cowboys!

You know when I left Texas 2 months ago, as soon as I got back to CA all my little health issues when away.

like within hours

Now that I'm back here I have my allergies again >sniff< >sniff< >ACHOO<. Hopefully I'll have no headaches this week and hopefully no heat rashes.

You know after coming back though (at least to the west tx area, not DFW) I do miss the dry heat they have here as opposed to the humid heat they have in non-coastal Cali / DFW areas. For all these softball games to go to this week, it will be nice to not be sitting in a pool of my own sweat. (or secretly giggling at other peoples sweat pools and then looking and laughing at my own too) Hurray for AC and swimming pools!!!

I miss the low price of gas. Gas here in Odessa is $2.80-ish. Gas in San Diego is $3.30-ish.

Eating out is cheaper, if you like fried butter. I had fish and chips last night (at Hooters) Hurray for T&A!!! Those were some good fish too. I miss that place that Fred gets those catfish boxes. I doubt they have one here, but I'm sure there is one like it. I just gotta find it.

I like this Hotel we're at, it's close to everything: a Mall, Walmart, Target, Hooters :) You know they don't sell swimsuits year round in Odessa. Heathers swimsuit was missing (and to me a swimsuit to a kid is more important than her softball glove) anyway, Heather and I went to FOUR stores looking for a swimsuit. None to be found. What is there is on clearance, and way too small/large for her. Poor Heather. She gets to watch her friends swim. I'm sure she won't care and will end up in the pool anway, clothes and all :)

I keep thinking of all the things that I like more about one place and what I miss about the other, but in the end the health problems that I have in Texas just make the Sunshine Tax in Ca worth it.

welcome to sonic, hold please, forever.

Ok, so yes I am a geek. I have digipix of this AND video. So it was boredom or geekdom (or both) you know that we were here for about FIVE songs while waiting for our order? That's right, FIVE.

And it was a simple order too, your ordinary burger, a chicken "basket" and a cherry lime slush. How hard is that?

Funny thing about this town, everything here is run down, broken, closed, old. Basically the town time forgot. The only new buildings on the Main stip were Sonic and a Funeral Home. Kinda sad. Clog your arteries here at Sonic. Cause of death: Sonic. Where do you go? Funeral Home!!!

They got the market cornered.

Heat Wave

Ok, so they say that CA is experiencing a heatwave, I think the heat just decided to follow me here (it just took its sweet time and maybe took a detour in Phoenix). Saturday, they say it was 110 in Chula Vista. I know that in my house the thermo-thingie said it was 90 before we actually turned the AC on.

Funny thing is, when we were buying our home Sam really didn't want an AC. I said, even if we only use it 3 days a year it will be worth it. Before this year, the AC was rarely ever turned on, this year I know its been used at least 6 times. DAMN THAT HEAT!!!

So today, since the garage is still in need of being emptied out so that we can officially be "moved in" (yea, like 2 years later) we're outside in the garage listening to music and going thru boxes, throwing stuff away or deciding where it actually belongs. The house just happens to be in a prime location (we're close to the public mailboxes) the neighbors keep walking up getting their mail and doing the usual chit-chat: bringing up the weather: They have family in other parts of the country, and say that it's hotter HERE than where ever they're from.

I think that's kinda funny. I'm just thankful my house has AC. I just wish the heat would go away.

Clerks 2

Sam asked me this morning if I was interested in seeing a movie. I asked him what was out. Our options were: Cars, Clerks 2, Lady in the Water and My Super X-GF. All started between 11 and 12. By the time we were both (mostly me) ready, our only option was Clerks 2. Sam never saw the first one, but I do have it on DVD, so he's watching it right now.

We always get to the theatre late, today the movie was even later than we were. It was supposed to start @ 11:50, but didn't start until 12:10. I think it was the first time ever going to a movie and not having to sit thru trailers, though by the time the movie started, it was like sitting thru trailers.

Lucky for me I had my GBA to entertain me!

Anyway, if you go in with low expectations, you won't be disapointed. There are a few cameo's, LOADS of profanity and slander, and lots of kindergarden humor. The Moobies they work for is also full of phallic symbols and unrealistic food creations, but funny to read and look at. And if you're offended by inter-species errotica, you might want to take a break somewhere in the middle. lol.

What I really liked, is everybody is fatter and older (except Jay) like in real life. Anyway, I loved it, and Sam was laughing too. Go check it out.

Photoshop Fun!

Yea, this was fun making! Anyway, there's my hair, all chopped off. Too bad I took it with my motophonecam and it takes crappy pix.

Heather and her team are going to Midland TX!!! Woo hoo! I can't wait to smell the oil and steers. . . Luckily I'll get to see my parents and my neice(s) too.

FFXI on the PC

OMG! They did it!

So this morning, Heathers softball team beat PYL 2-0. This means they put PYL in the losers bracket and her team has more of a chance to head to Texas. All they need is to be in the top four for the State of CA.

Sam made it so that you can watch a semi-live feed
of her game, so when I was watching this morning, I saw the score and immediately called him. You can't image the screaming in the background. Let me tell you, all I hear is how much of a rivalry there is between these two teams. And I think this is only their 3rd win against them or something. I'm glad her team won. I remember watching them play each other when she was 9. It wasn't the same girls as the ones today, but it was the same League, and um, well yea, I'm glad they won :)

=======

Don't you hate when you start a project, especially one that seems so huge, then you get sidetracked and start something else? Yea I hate that too. Now I have 2 things going on, and nothing put piles of piles of piles to show for it. Ah well. It will all work itself out.

Let's try this again!

So I go out and purchase a copy of FFXI - Treasures of Aht Urhgan for my PS2 and it takes me about 2 weeks to get around to installing it. Once I get this installed I find out that my linkshell: Manapool has disbanded as an HNM LS and is now only a chat LS.

Bummer.

Well I guess the good news is that I can finish up my RDM 51 and BLM 52, enjoy / explore the new areas (and find more interesting ways to kill my character), start farming up some gil for myself, and of course: figure out what all this new lingo is for these new areas.

Some ingame buddies have asked me what I am gonna do now? I've been thinking about that, and I know that for right now, I have no interest in going with another HNM LS, at least for a bit. Mainly because I am finally trying to get my life back in order, and I just don't have the time to commit to an LS (much less prolonged periods of time online RPGing). What I mean is: participating in events such as Dynamis, Limbus, camping HNMs, or gathering for planned activities like O-Hats or Missions I just can't (and at this time) don't want to commit myself to.

I mean, right now, I can't even sit still long enough to LOOK for a party, on either of those two jobs and OMG if I actually get an invite, its hit or miss if the party is going to be good. If it's a good party, I find the WILL to stick around (though I am getting more and more easily distracted by things like, oh say, REAL LIFE but I at least give a fair warning and or find a replacement if I decide to take off) and if the party is bad, all of a sudden my character suddenly is no longer online, or better yet, my cat happens to magically catch fire because she was knawing on the LAN cables.

hehe

Well anyway. I was over at a buddies house tonight, and because I found this superfast PC in my house, my buddy loans me his PC versions of FFXI to install at my home. So I get home and I installed them on this superfast magic PC and ran the game, and OMFGBBQYUM, it's like a [Whole Better Game +1]. Of course, it took a really long time to install FFXI, Zilart, CoP, ToAU AND THEN the update, but it's all installed. The only problem now, is getting back to basics and learning how to take turns on this superfast magic PC, or at best, sneak in some playtime when nobody is looking :)

And who know's if I'll like going back to that old clunky slow PS2.
[Whole Better Game +1] [Can I have it?] [Yes please!]

another exciting and long day. . .

So I woke up today with pretty much a full day planned.

Sam and Heather had to travel up to Lancaster for her State qualifier in softball this weekend in order to get a placement in the nationals games that will happen later in July-August. Basically, if they place in the top four for the state of California then we'll all be headed to Midland TX to hopefully get (yet another) National Championship. So while they are up doing their softball thing, I'm staying home cat-sitting! I'm gonna have to find somebody to babysit 3 kittys (hopefully) soon for the week that we (might) be in Texas.

As for my day, it started off with me going to the Salon to get my hair colored and chopped off! I'll prob post pix later. Too bad I didn't take any before pix, you'll just have to look at my old ones to see what I looked like before. I'm really happy with the colored highlights that I got as they are a nice darker brown color. It just irritates me to see people with dark hair with blond highlights. I mean, excuse me, WE HAVE DARK HAIR, our hair will NEVER have blond highlights. EVER.

Don't get me wrong, when people have highlights that are say, pink or green, even some crazy reds, or even those funky weird blond enormous streaks ~ that's cool cause those are obviously fake, but to have HIGHLIGHTS and then say, "oh my hair is naturally this way (every spring and summer, magically, one day) Psssssht, yea right! Anyway, getting off track, and back my what I had done. I'm, really happy with the color, and style and I hope they don't turn brassy later, and hey, if it does, I hope it at least looks "normal".

After my salon thingie, I went to the mall!!!! (OMG, YES, the MALL) and I enjoyed IT!!! I got to go to one of my favorite stores: Ruehl, basically A&F for old peeps. Ann Taylor was there too and her buddys in New York had some shinys. Don't forget the hotties at A|X! I ran out of time before I could look around at other stores :(

I had the most AWESOME salad at San Sai JP Grill. Then it was off to my buddies for our bi-monthy game / hangout time. We ended up playing uh.... something . . . . & BanG! Obviously the "something" was not an eventful enough card game for me to recall, as I can't even remember the details of the game itself other than the directions were in German, there were six ~ six sided di, we rolled alot, got to play tournaments, collect castles, won knights to guard our castles, and tryed to obtain ONE king (which I got lucky and won/obtained) yet, I *STIlL* can't remember the name of the game. On the otherhand in the card game of BanG! I finally got to be the Sherrif, and it was about a 45 minute game with Pearl and myself trying to kill each other off. In the end, Pearl fought the law, and the law (me) won :)

I was supposed to go to the gym, but ended up staying at my buddies until around midnight. The way I see it, I got a light workout walking all over Little Italy, Mission/Fashion Valley and laughing among friends. I WILL be going tomorrow (read: today, which is a few hours from now, like when I wake up.)

ta ta!

Happy 4th of July!

So today was a busy day. It started off with Heathers 12U Allstar Game against WAGS (up in Escondido) and they won their tournament/game 5-0. Next week is their State qualifier up in Lancaster. If they place in the top four then that means that we're going to Midland TX at the end of July. Oh joy!!! Nothing like the sweltering heat of west Texas and the smell of Texas Tea and the random Steers!! The good news is that I might get to see my family again (if they win)!!!! My parents may come up for a game which will be nice.

After the game we came back down to our neighborhood to eat some SUSHI!!!! (well at leat I ate some sushi) Sam just ate some Teriyaki Beef.

After that we went to this gym that Sam had mentioned has raquet ball courts. Long story short, we now have a really nice gym membership, with no contract! :) They have a lap pool, a hot tub, a dry saunda, raquet ball courts, bastketball/volleyball courts, aerobics, tons of cardio machines, and of course the weights and freeweights (those of which I will probably never use). They also have a juice bar, and a kids area (another thing I have no use for). I'm excited about going tomorrow and hopefully I can loose about 5lbs by August. (That's my goal anyway)

The last thing we did today was watch about 5 different fireworks shows go off from our balcony. Woo-hoo!! Anyway, happy 4th! And enjoy my pix!

Hope you're all safe and are enjoying your hangovers :)

More silly-ness of Mia and friends. . .

Happy 4th of July

So around 9pm we look out on our balcony and there are 4 fireworks shows going off. I took a few photos, but most of them were too far away to be of any value. Around 10PM I hear these REALLY loud obvious fireworks sounds along with kids cheering. First thing I said was: 'Yea!!! THOSE don't sound ILLEGAL or anything' Next thing you know, Sam and I are out on the balcony taking some really AWESOME pix of the fireworks RIGHT in our backyard!!!!

In hindsight, I shoulda set the shutter to stay open for 2 seconds instead of it doing what it wanted to. Ah well, I know better for New Years. :)
